Yu Darvish had himself a great game last night against the Astros. As a matter of fact, great is an understatement. Darvish fanned 14 batters in 8 and 2/3 innings without giving up a run or a hit. Twitter was buzzing about Yu Darvish’s potential perfect game and he gave up a hit on the last at bat! Although, Yu gave up that hit, his performance was amazing and he is starting to live up to the hype. The 26-year-old right-hander was a highly touted prospect in 2011. He played his first season for the Rangers in 2012, while going 16-9 as a starter. Yu also accumulated 221 strikeouts last year. Not bad for a rookie season! Darvish’s performance last night shows that he might be ready to take the next step into stardom. He certainly has the potential. 14 strikeouts in a season debut is nothing to ignore. Darvish is an astounding young talent that can help the Rangers try to stay at American League supremacy. If Yu keeps pitching like he did last night and proving his dominance, the Rangers can rest assured that they have a pitcher that they can rely on.
