He is not called “King Felix” for no reason. Felix Hernandez is a winner. In fact, Hernandez got his 100th career win last night against the Astros. He went 6.0 innings, threw 9 strikeouts and did not give up a run in the 7-1 win. The Seattle Mariners are aware that they have an ace in Hernandez and rewarded him with a nice lump sum of money just before the start of the season. The Mariners and Hernandez agreed on a 7-year/ $175 million deal. That is $25,000,000 per year! He is getting paid a tremendous amount of cash but there is no doubt that he has earned it. Despite being just 27 years old, Felix has been a star for quite a long time in the MLB. Over his 8-year career, Hernandez has a record of 100-78, 1524 strikeouts and has a 3.19 ERA. In 5 starts this season, Hernandez is 2-2, has fanned 37 batters, and his ERA is 2.08. The Mariners’ offense might not come to play every night but they can count on Felix Hernandez to keep runs off of the board when he is out there on the pitching mound.
