The Memphis Grizzlies are making another playoff run similar to the one that they had in 2011 and a big reason for their success is Mike Conley. Oops… did I say big? Conley is only 6’1″ and 185 pounds but his heart and timely playmaking makes up for his small stature. During the postseason, Conley is averaging 17.9 points, 7.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. He orchestrates the offense and is completely poised out there on the court. Another great aspect of his game is his ability to lock up on the defensive end. As a testament do his defense, Conley is averaging 1.2 steals per contests also.
When the Grizzlies need a big bucket or some other miracle to take place, Conley seems to be the player that takes matters into his own hands. Fear is not something that can describe him. Sure, the Grizzlies have faced some huge players on the Clippers and Thunder in the playoffs but that does not scare the tough point guard of the Grizzlies! Conley has constantly shredded the defense during his remarkable postseason run. Taking it to the rack and maneuvering his way past tall treetops such as shot blocker Serge Ibaka and Kevin Durant is like a piece of cake for Mike Conley! Conley worked his way to a tremendous statline of 26 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists, coming just one assist shy of a triple-double in the Grizzlies’ 99-93 win over the Thunder on Tuesday. It seems as if the Memphis Grizzlies go as Conley goes and as of right now, he is blazing! This left-handed speedster is highly underrated but it’s safe to say that after this postseason, Conley might be a tad bit higher up on the rankings of top point guards in the NBA because he is performing at an elite level!
