The Milwaukee Brewers have not exactly had an ideal season. They are last in the NL Central at 19-32 and 15.5 games behind the first place St. Louis Cardinals. However, Milwaukee does have a pretty good newcomer on their team that could help bring some success to the franchise in the future. Jean Segura is having quite a good start to the 2013-2014 season. The 23-year-old shortstop is a great defensive and offensive addition to the club.
Segura has been surprisingly impressive during the season. So far this year, he has 8 HR, 22 RBI, an NL-leading batting average of .360 and an OBP of .397. This kid is leading the national league in batting average at just 23 years old! On Tuesday, he had a six-hit game against the Minnesota Twins. By tallying six hits that night, Segura became the first MLB player in almost four years to have six hits in a game and the first Brewer to have such an accomplishment in almost twenty years. Oh, I forgot to mention that he is a terror when on base. Segura stole 14 bases this season and has only gotten caught twice. He has also came up with his fair share of defensive web gems at the shortstop position. Milwaukee needs to pick up their play. Hopefully, they witness Segura’s star power and try to follow suit. Segura possesses speed, power, instincts and athleticism. Milwaukee is certainly glad to have such a well-rounded player.
