With all the talk surrounding the offensive force of Chris Davis in Baltimore, many Oriole fans seem to be overlooking the fact that they have a pitcher who is just as valuable to the team as Davis is. That pitcher’s name is Chris Tillman. If you have not heard of him before, then it is not surprising. He does not get as much publicity as the other American League pitchers such as Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer and Matt Moore but he is certainly pitching just as good or even better than the majority of pitchers in the majors. Tillman is having an awesome year. Everything seems to be working for him in most of his outings.
Tillman is a 25-year-old right-hander from Anaheim, California. This is his fourth year in the MLB and by the looks of things, he might be ready to become a strong force in the American League. Tillman’s numbers in this season have been outstanding to say the least. He has a 10-2 record and his 10 wins has him tied for fourth place in the American League. In addition to a great record, Tillman has accumulated 81 strikeouts and a decent ERA of 3.68.
Tillman is having a great year but people still fail to realize his success. He will definitely get more recognition as the season progresses because he is on pace to win about 20 games. When a starting pitcher has a record of 10-2, they must be doing something right. Tillman is holding his own when going up against big bats and has proved that he can hang with the best of the best pitchers in terms of statistics. Tillman hopes to pile up plenty more wins this season and there is no doubt that he can do it.
